Correspondence consists of four letters (July 1863) concerning a torpedo ram invented by Capt. Francis D. Lee. Two letters from Lee at Charleston, South Carolina to Gen. P.G.T. Beauregard concern the specifications of a vessel to carry the torpedo rams. A letter to naval officer D.N. Ingraham recommends that the vessel be finished. A letter to Capt. Francis D. Lee from Gen. Beauregard at Charleston, S.C. explains that there are insufficient funds to complete the vessel and that work on the torpedo ram must be discontinued.
